Keep Track of our Progress!

Here's a map that is linked up to our GPS and Eric has been taking that data and putting in this Google map so everyone can keep track of where we are! There's a link below the maps you can click on for a closer look. There are multiple pages so be sure to check out all of them for our total route.

4 Presidents and a Jackass

Day 6 started VERY early as evidenced in the video below:

After me and Daniel had it out and he understood which route we were taking we made our way through the Big Horn Mountains which were pretty incredible and some of the steepest roads we'd ever been on.

We then made our way to Devil's Tower. We both quickly realized it was nothing more than a big rock in the middle of nowhere and decided to proceed on to Mt. Rushmore.

The weather was absolutely perfect so we decided to splurge on audio "wands" that played different sound bites about facts regarding the monument as we walked the Presidential Trail. If you are visiting Mt. Rushmore in the future, either pass on the audio tour or just buy one, mulitple units are a waste of money, lesson learned. We did manage to pick up some good shots on the trail, however.

We left to check into our hotel and had a great dinner before proceeding back to Mt. Rushmore for the evening program. It was spectacular. The park ranger gave a 10 minute speech about the presidents and then a 20 minute video about Freedom in America played, very patriotic. At the conclusion of the movie they slowly light the monument. If you've never seen Mt. Rushmore lit up at night it's an absolute must. When the monument was lit they invited all current and former military personnel down to the stage to help retire the flag. A moving moment to say the least.

All in all it was a great day. We successfully crossed the entire width of Wyoming (over 400 miles) and didn't kill each other so I'd say it was a good day! On now back to Casper as the trip winds down. Until next time, happy travels.

P.S. It is left up to the reader to determine who the jackass is referenced in the title to this post...

  1. Well, I guess it's obvious who the JACKASS is . . . anybody who ARGUES with the GPS system! (IF the shoe fits. . .)
How did the bowling go in Casper?
So glad you two are having fun--have a GREAT day in Denver tomorrow!
    Love,
    MOM T.
