Keep Track of our Progress!

Here's a map that is linked up to our GPS and Eric has been taking that data and putting in this Google map so everyone can keep track of where we are! There's a link below the maps you can click on for a closer look. There are multiple pages so be sure to check out all of them for our total route.

Billy's fury burns orange...

That poor steering wheel. I think any damages assessed by Dollar Rent-a-Car can be billed to the Wyoming Dept. of Transportation, as far as Billy is concerned. And billed to one little lady in particular...holding a sign marked "slow" (no comment) and directing 2 opposing flows of traffic at the same time, all while motioning the wrong way. Traffic was stopped just about every 10 miles for what Billy called "pass the hanky." I think he will be seeing pilot cars and orange barrels in his dreams tonight.

The day started promising enough, with a great breakfast at 6:30 am. I commented to Billy that he and I have consistently been the first people in the breakfast room at every hotel that has offered the complimentary breakfast...and even at those that didn't. Even beating out the older folks who looked sincerely surprised to see the two of us already half-way into our breakfasts at the time they arrived. I can recall one incident in particular at West Yellowstone, when Billy sped into the parking lot of a restaurant, trying to beat the elderly couple who was walking up from their hotel across the street. But, I digress.

We arrived in Casper shortly after 1 pm, and drove around the city a bit. I saw the parking lot where Billy puked after a meal, and the parking lot where Billy lost his fingernail (we actually had already seen that one on Day 1, but I didn't want to hurt his feelings). I saw the hospital where he was born, the high school he would have attended had he not moved and the community center where he took a pottery class at the age of 4. It was great to see these things through his eyes. I must admit, he has been a terrific tour guide on this trip, and has really made it a great one for me!

After dinner, we played a couple of games of bowling at Sunrise Lanes. We had a great time, even though I played terribly.

Tomorrow we head to Denver and the last night of our wonderful vacation. Then, back to reality. At least we wont have any trouble getting up for work when we get back!

PS: Billy wanted me to tell you that we have driven over 2000 miles since last Saturday!
