Keep Track of our Progress!

Here's a map that is linked up to our GPS and Eric has been taking that data and putting in this Google map so everyone can keep track of where we are! There's a link below the maps you can click on for a closer look. There are multiple pages so be sure to check out all of them for our total route.

Goodbye Yellowstone, Hello Mt. Rushmore

After 2 great days in Yellowstone we've made our way out of the park and are currently staying the night in Cody, WY. We awoke early (around 4 AM local time which is actually an hour later than our average) and had breakfast in the hotel lobby and then headed back in to Yellowstone. Due to a road closure between Mammouth and Norris we had to do the entire lower loop of Yellowstone a second time which added about 60 miles and an hour and a half of driving, but it did allow us to go back to Grant Village and visit the old Ranger Bob Stage where I found time to put on a small show....

We then did the entire Upper Loop and saw plenty of buffalo, elk and tons of tourists mezmorized by said animals insisting on stopping IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD to gawk at the animals. Apparently in Yellowstone whenever an animal is in the area all motor vehicle laws are negated.

We had a great lunch at Mammouth and then worked our way out of the park and in to Cody.

We had a great dinner at Bubba's and then toured the main street and all of the stores. We missed seeing the Buffalo Bill Cody Museum by about 5 minutes. Jenny's trip just won't be complete without seeing that but hopefully everything else has made up for it!

Tomorrow it's off to Mt. Rushmore via Devil's Tower. It will be over 400 miles of driving but we have a great evening show at the base of Mt. Rushmore to look forward to.

Total Mileage count so far since Saturday: 1250+ miles (Jenny's been a great navigator, no getting lost yet!)

We'll have more to report after we get to Mt. Rushmore tomorrow. Until then, happy travels.

  3. I hope you guys are enjoying Mountain Rushmore (that's what my kids used to call it!)--isn't the new walkway with all the state flags cool? I think they did a great job on the renovation. Let me know what you think of the nighttime show. Oh, and are you going to see the work-in-progress of Chief Crazy Horse nearby?
Have a FUN day! Love, MOM T.
